A courageous freedom fighter and dedicated social activist
The Arun Foundation is registered in 2017 under the the Society Registration Act XXI of 1860. It was founded in the memory of a courageous freedom fighter and social activist Gazi Lutfar Rahman Arun.
During the period of the emergence of the new state, Bangladesh, having entered into a fully unknown district, Sirajganj, a brave, virile and promising young and dreamer of independent Bangladesh, stood in the front line of Great Liberation War-1971 and fought against the Pakistani Occupying forces courageously. That time the fascination for the soil and people of Sirajgonj grew in him and so he did not leave Sirajgonj, after achieving the desired great victory. He continued his family-life along with social welfare based activities here. Having fallen in affection and liking with the people, he stayed and lived with harmony here till his last day of his life. One day he breathed his last/passed away throwing the people of all walks of life here into deep pool of sorrow and grief and was buried with proper honor and solemnity in the graveyard located in Sirajgonj. He played an important role in developing various fields, taking active part in District Development Committee. While he was alive, all the time, he not only kept himself engaged in constructive, progressive and social activities but also devoted to the work useful for the distressed and helpless people who individually fell into troubles and crisis. All these are now only history. After the name and in honor of that great hero, lustrous witness of the history of Bangladesh, Arun, who was always averse to self-proclamation, the move of ‘Arun Foundation’ is going to be launched. To make his unfulfilled desire to do something beneficial for the people fulfilled and materialized is the key object and pivot of this organization. This Foundation is trying its best to contribute the most in visible advancement of Independent Golden Bangladesh.
